Lisa and Joe contacted me back in January, shortly after getting engaged at Christmas. Lisa mentioned that she loved the idea of engagement photos around Arthur’s Seat. And I couldn’t be happier – it’s one of my favourite places in Edinburgh! After having to reschedule the initial engagement photoshoot we had initially planned for the middle of March, we decided to plan it for a chilly April Friday evening.
Arthur’s Seat continues to be one of my favourite engagement photos locations in Edinburgh. As Scotland engagement photographer I couldn’t imagine a better place for nature lovers to have their couple photos taken. Can you imagine that the incredible Holyrood Park is located in the middle of the city?
As Edinburgh engagement photographer I love capturing epic moments for my lovely clients, especially at sunset.
Engagement photoshoot on Arthur’s Seat
First of all, don’t let these engagement photos fool you! Although the images might look sunny and warm, it was actually incredibly windy and our hands were freezing.
I was proud of Lisa and Joe for braving the cold for the sake of their engagement photos though!
And I have to say, we were super lucky with the light. Golden hour is an unusual thing here in Scotland. And most days tend to be cloudy.
Personally, I love the warm, soft light of the golden hour. Especially when I get the chance to take beautiful backlit engagement photos for awesome clients like Lisa and Joe.
Golden hour Scotland engagement session
Whoever loves the idea of their engagement photos taken in a place such as Arthur’s Seat, needs to consider the fact that reaching the peak of the park is a bit of a hike. So I definitely recommend it for people who don’t mind a wee bit of hillwalking!
Although I cannot promise you a sunset on Arthur’s Seat during your engagement photoshoot, I can definitely promise that the place is stunning.
Feel free to have a look through my other galleries on the portfolio page! Here’s a great example of what an autumn (October) photoshoot on Arthur’s Seat could look like: Jakob’s secret proposal to Virginia on Arthur’s Seat.
Finally, I need to say that Arthur’s Seat and the Holyrood Park look incredibly atmospheric in cloudy and rainy weather as well. Here’s an example of Heather and Erin’s couple photoshoot in Holyrood Park.
