St Abbs, only around one hour drive from Edinburgh, is a wee fishing village in the east of Scotland in the Scottish Borders.
St Abbs in the Scottish Borders – Scotland photographer
If you’d like to explore new places in Scotland, especially those just as beautiful but not as crowded as Isle of Skye, St Abbs is a fantastic option. Old fisherman’s cottages, green and tall cliffs, sheep wandering on the roads. All that has an incredible charm, particularly on the cloudy and rainy days.
And if you’re driving from Edinburgh I would definitely recommend a stop at Seacliff Beach (it’s a private beach and entrance costs £3). It’s the most beautiful beach I have visited in Scotland so far. Golden sand, greenery and view at the lighthouse on the rock is an incredible landscape to witness.
So many reasons to visit St Abbs in Scotland – Scotland photographer
The harbour in St Abbs is incredibly cute and picturesque – we stopped for a haggis & cheddar panini and a cup of coffee. Amazing idea for a rainy day! We decided to park the car in the car park next to the harbour and walk to the cliffs which took us around 45 minutes one way. We chose not to be lazy and walk in the rain – which was a perfect idea, as we managed to capture moody landscapes of the Scottish countryside. I loved the mood so much.
The cliff paths in St Abbs offer breathtaking views. I fall in love with Scotland ever more with every trip I take to a new Scottish destination. I loved every second of our trip to St Abbs and can’t wait to come back. I ended up wet after chasing sheep through the grass to take some photos of them but it was so worth it!
Remember that St Abbs is also a magical place for your elopement in Scotland or a wedding or engagement photoshoot, just saying! :)
