Meet Melissa and John who decided to come to Scotland soon after their intimate elopement in Alaska – where they live.
Spending time with John and Melissa and photographing them in Holyrood Park on that chilly Sunday afternoon was amazing. I met two people, crazy in love, who has just got married in the US and who wanted to have their wedding photographs taken during their holiday in Scotland.
Melissa’s wedding dress was absolutely gorgeous and they both looked amazing in the Scottish scenery. We had so much fun, despite the cold weather. And moody Scottish scenery did not disappoint my lovely American couple.
Holyrood Park – perfect place for an Edinburgh elopement
If you’re looking for a place to elope in Scotland, Holyrood Park might be your perfect location. It’s a park which is one of a kind, it’s a park in the middle of the city offering dramatic hills and breathtaking views at the Edinburgh skyline. It’s like a wild piece of Scottish Highlands in the middle of the Scottish capital.
That’s not all – have your photographs taken with the ruins of Saint Anthony’s Chapel, looking more like an ancient castle. When you’re there, take a look at Saintt Margaret’s Loch. It’s frequently visited not only by locals and tourists but also by ducks and geese.
Arthur’s Seat is its highest point – if you like to hike you’ll be able to experience a view like no other. I got married at the remain of a volcano in Scotland – does that not sound awesome?
And – the most gorgeous sunsets in Edinburgh are only to be experienced in Holyrood Park. It’s without a doubt, my favourite place in Edinburgh and I believe it always will be. It’s the most beautiful when it’s cloudy when the light is very soft, or minutes before sunset. You should totally put it on your must-see list when visiting Edinbugh!
Absolutely perfect elopement spot in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Wedding photo session in Holyrood Park
Have you ever considered eloping to Scotland?
I love big weddings, but let’s be honest – the bigger the wedding, the bigger the stress. Especially for couples who don’t really like to be the centre of attention.
When you elope, your big day is all about you. And you don’t have to worry about anything else. Of course, Scottish weather can be a little bit dramatic and unforseeable – but if you’re a fan of Scotland’s dark, green and moody landscapes it can be perfect for you!
If you’re looking for someone to capture your magical and moody elopement in Scotland, I would love to be the one to do it. Please get in touch via my contact form and let’s start chatting!

I can't wait to hear all about your dream elopement day!
Hi Natalia. we are a Maltese couple getting married in May in Malta. Edinburgh was our first holiday together as a couple and we loved it so much that we are thinking about having a post-wedding photoshoot there. How much would a photoshoot cost please? We are still looking into possible dates. Thanks!
