Hannah and Dave had been planning their wedding day for more than 2 years before they decided they could no longer wait and decided to have 2 wedding days instead.
As their Edinburgh elopement photographer I was totally on board!
Micro weddings have become increasingly popular during the pandemic when a lot of restrictions were put in place for the wedding industry.
It was amazing to still be able to photograph micro weddings though!
In case of Hannah and Dave’s city elopement, I was unfortunately unable to photograph their romantic private garden ceremony. The restrictions in place would only allow for 5 people to attend the wedding ceremony. And in this case that included the bride and groom, 2 witnesses and the officiant.
Thankfully we were still allowed to meet right after them saying I do and wander around Edinburgh to create the most amazing wedding photos for this gorgeous couple. The most important thing was to avoid rain and harsh sunlight which we were lucky to have escaped.
Hannah’s stunning wedding dress is from Bliss Studio Salon in Edinburgh which is a wonderful place to look for the most gorgeous wedding gown in Scotland!
Stockbridge wedding photos in Edinburgh
As Edinburgh wedding photographer I have a list of my favourite photography locations in Edinburgh.
I was happy when Hannah and Dave decided to have their wedding photos taken in some of my favourite spots in Edinburgh, including Dean Village and Circus Lane.
These 2 places, being located in Edinburgh’s New Town, are much less popular than Edinburgh’s Old town or Holyrood Park, but they are just as lovely. Having your wedding photos taken in these locations allows you to escape the most popular, touristy places in Edinburgh.
So they are a great choice for couples who choose to avoid crowds on their wedding day in Edinburgh.
Edinburgh elopement photographer – Edinburgh micro weddings
Small city weddings have an incredible charm. Especially if you’re getting married in a place as magical as Edinburgh. Full of picturesque alleys, almost every street corner makes up for a great photo opportunity.
I could not imagine a more perfect place for a micro wedding than Edinburgh.
First of all, beautiful places are within walkable distance from each other. Secondly, whether you’re more of a city person or prefer to enjoy the outdoors – you can combine both in your wedding photos. And finally, no other city is more romantic than the Scottish capital!
Micro weddings and city elopements have a special kind of charm. Primarily, they are intimate and allow two people to maintain focus on each other. Also, there is no pressure on the couple to make their wedding guests happy. And – they can organise their big day however they want! So whether they want a low-key celebration or a big night with fine dining and running around hills watching the sunset…. nothing’s off limits!
