Emily contacted me at the beginning of this year asking if I’d be up for photographing her Edinburgh elopement. Of course I said yes – there’s nothing I love more than Edinburgh City Chambers elopement!
Following the quick wedding ceremony at Edinburgh City Chambers, we wandered around scenic spots in the city centre to take photos. It was an incredibly windy and cold February morning. But the light couldn’t have been more perfect. The soft, gorgeous winter light is what every Edinburgh elopement photographer dreams about!
As Scotland elopement photographer Edinburgh is one of my favourite places to photograph weddings in. It boasts a variety of majestic architecture. What is more, it offers incredibly scenic landscapes and stunning hidden gems at almost every corner.
Edinburgh City Chambers winter wedding
Organising your elopement ceremony at Edinburgh City Chambers is a great idea if you are looking for a centrally located venue and a quick ceremonial part of the wedding.
City Chambers in Edinburgh are located in the heart of city’s Old Town, surrounded by a high number of capital’s landmarks and picturesque streets. The elopement ceremonies at Edinburgh City Chambers usually last between 15 and 30 minutes, but the quickest one I’ve witness was probably lasting for only 10 minutes – and the newlyweds loved it, they wanted something low-key and fast.
At the moment all buildings within Edinburgh City Chambers square are covered by scaffolding, which is expected to be uninstalled by spring 2022. It’s not really an issue, because of the abundance of beautiful locations in the area – the first wedding photo below was taken just opposite to the Chambers!
Anyway, back to the elopement story!
First of all, Emily and Daniel got married on what was probably the windiest day of 2022 so far. Thankfully, the wind didn’t spoil our photography plans!
And luckily, we were able to cover multiple photography locations within short time. Despite strong wind it was a great day.
The now-newlyweds decided to come all the way from Wales to get married in Edinburgh City Chambers. And it was their first time in Edinburgh. What was great is that they absolutely loved the Scottish capital. And their elopement day will become one of their fondest memories.
We visited so many fantastic locations on their elopement day. We mostly wandered around the Old town and took some photos on Royal Mile, Advocate’s Close, in front of Writer’s Museum… But also went to the Vennel viewpoint in the Grassmarket. Finally, our last stop was Calton Hill with the epic view of city’s skyline.
