Emily & Daniel swapped vows on the windiest February morning of 2024 — a ten-minute ceremony inside Edinburgh City Chambers followed by a whistle-stop wander through Old-Town closes, Royal-Mile cobbles and a moody Calton-Hill skyline. Here’s how winter light, clear umbrellas and a dash of dare-to-embrace-the-weather turned their mini-wedding into pure Scottish magic.
First of all, Emily and Daniel got married on what was probably the windiest day of 2022 so far. Thankfully, the wind didn’t spoil our photography plans! Emily and Daniel wanted a day that felt like them: intimate, season-soaked and set in the historic heart of the city they first explored together on a chilly city-break. February’s low sun and quieter streets sealed the deal.
And luckily, we were able to cover multiple photography locations within short time. Despite strong wind it was a great day.
The now-newlyweds decided to come all the way from Wales to get married in Edinburgh City Chambers. And it was their first time in Edinburgh. What was great is that they absolutely loved the Scottish capital.
Umbrellas up, we zig-zagged past St Giles, ducked into Advocates Close for a breather, and caught a perfect puff of mist on Castlehill – proof that embracing Scottish weather always pays off.
With daylight running short, we raced to Calton Hill for that famous almost-sunset glow. The sky dipped from peach to pewter in minutes, giving us a softbox in the clouds and a skyline that looked painted on.
