Every time I get a photography booking from a fellow photographer I get both a bit stressed and super excited. The pressure is real!
Photographing another professional photographer is always such a great adventure though. Especially when her kids are so cute!
Also, we were prepared for truly moody weather conditions but as you know you can never trust a weather forecast here in Scotland. So, we ended up shooting on a very sunny Scottish morning and hiding in the shade from the harsh sunlight.
Family session in Edinburgh
I fell in love with Alisa’s family photography as soon as I checked out her website. She is an incredibly talented family photographer based in Northern California, currently living in Chico. We share our love for travelling, moody Scottish landscapes and good food.
Her biggest love though is the one for her family and her wonderful boys. Without a doubt, families are our greatest blessing and it always shows so well in Alisa’s photographs. As a family photographer she always managed to capture real emotions, the bond between family members and she does all that surrounded by beautiful landscapes of California.
I felt truly privileged to have been chosen as her Edinburgh family photographer. Working with her and her boys was so much fun and the feedback I got from Alisa after she had received her gallery made me incredibly happy.
Edinburgh family photoshoots
As an Edinburgh family photographer I’m always up for an outdoor location photoshoot and I don’t accept bookings for studio sessions. So if you prefer much more natural photography style, the outdoor option should be the one most suitable for you.
Quite an important thing to think about is clothing. In this case Alisa went for a beautiful, long, dark and flowy dress and her boys were wearing elegant kilts. Of course you can always go for a casual clothing option, but please remember to try and avoid green, as it can blend into the dark and green Scottish landscapes. I always suggest dark and earthy colours and my favourite ones are mustard, grey, black and brown as they match the Scottish vibe incredibly well. Red is also a great choice as it gives the photos an amazing colour pop look.
What’s more, I would advise to avoid large logos or slogans on your t-shirts or hoodies. Plus, stripes are also not the best option in most cases.
