Cosy November Wedding at Dalness Lodge – Beth & Adam’s Highland Escape

There’s something truly magical about a November elopement-type wedding in the Scottish Highlands.

The crisp air, mist rolling over the glens, and the warm glow of candlelight make for an unforgettable atmosphere. Beth and Adam embraced all of this for their intimate micro-wedding at Dalness Lodge in Glen Etive, creating a day filled with love, adventure, and personal touches that reflected their story perfectly.

As Scotland wedding photographer I was thrilled to photograph their marriage ceremony and heartfelt, extraordinary wedding celebration.

A Secluded Highland Hideaway – extraordinary wedding venue

Tucked away deep in Glen Etive, Dalness Lodge is the epitome of a dreamy, remote wedding venue. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and the occasional Highland cow, it offers a tranquil setting where couples can celebrate in privacy.

Beth and Adam fell in love with its charm – its pet-friendly atmosphere was a big plus, ensuring their beloved dog, Bella, could be part of their day.

Adding to the magic of their wedding photography, I used a drone to capture breathtaking aerial shots of the venue nestled within the grandeur of the highland scenery. This cinematic approach not only showcased the couple’s love story but also highlighted the secluded beauty of Dalness Lodge, with its rugged mountains, winding rivers, and expansive farmland.

Heartfelt Moments & Highland Traditions

The couple’s wedding day was intimate, relaxed, and full of emotion. Their relaxed handfasting wedding ceremony, beautifully led by Alyson Stewart, added a traditional Scottish touch, symbolising their unity in the most heartfelt way. With only their closest family and friends present, the ceremony felt incredibly personal and filled with humour, with the stunning highland backdrop making it all the more special.

One of the unexpected highlights of the day was the interaction with the estate’s highland cows. The estate keepers generously allowed the wedding guests to pet and feed these magnificent fluffy creatures, creating a truly unique and memorable experience for everyone. It was a beautiful way to connect with the land and embrace the true spirit of the Scottish Highlands.

After exchanging vows, we took a rainy Land Rover adventure through Glen Etive road – because what’s a Scottish Highlands wedding without a bit of unpredictable weather? Wrapped up in their wedding attire, the couple embraced the moment strolling down the narrow highland road, proving that a little rain only adds to the romance of the day.

An Intimate Candlelit Dalness Lodge Wedding Celebration

Beth, with her keen eye for detail, planned a stunning tablescape for their wedding dinner. Candles flickered against the cosy, rustic interiors of Dalness Lodge, creating an atmosphere of warmth and intimacy. The reception was a beautiful blend of elegance and simplicity, with guests enjoying a relaxed, laughter-filled evening by the fireplace.

One of the standout features of Dalness Lodge is its bar station, which allows newlyweds and their guests to play mixologists for the day. Beth had a fantastic time crafting her own TikTok-inspired cocktail, adding a fun and creative element to the wedding celebrations.

Space, Light & Shelter from the Scottish Weather

Dalness Lodge boasts an abundance of natural light, which filled the stunning rooms and created the perfect setting for candid and cosy wedding photography. Whether it was the newlyweds sharing a quiet moment by the window, or guests enjoying heartfelt conversations, the lodge provided plenty of opportunities for capturing these special moments.

And for those inevitable dreich highland days? The lodge offers ample space to shelter from the rain, meaning the celebrations can continue in warmth and comfort, no matter the weather. I loved capturing both bride and groom’s adventurous wedding photos outdoors, and their cosy, emotion-filled candid interactions with their guests and each other.
