And I’m glad they did as this year’s first October elopement was a fantastic way to start my favourite month in Scotland to photograph weddings in! Vintage October elopement in Edinburgh – Edinburgh wedding photographer
If someone asked me how I’d describe Isabel and Stuart’s Edinburgh elopement – I’d say vintage, chic and inspired by dark academia.
Isabel is a lover of everything moody and atmospheric, also a fellow Potterhead! So of course we had to wander around the courtyard of Edinburgh’s New College, often also called the College of Divinity. Stepping into its courtyard always feels like stepping into Hogwarts.
After chatting to my lovely clients for a bit, it turned out that we have much more in common than we had initially thought. So it turned out that we share taste in clothes, furniture, travel destinations (including my absolute favourite and magical Iceland) and favourite colours.
What is more, it is impossible not to mention how talented Isabel is. Not only she made her tweed jacket worn for the elopement herself, but she also hand-made Stuart’s tweed waistcoast!
Finally, Isabel and Stuart chose Cheval the Edinburgh Grand as their elopement accommodation. And it was a fantastic choice. They ended up staying in one of the top floor suites, with a view at the Balmoral clock and Arthur’s Seat. Furthermore, the interiors were very stylish. The suit was decorates in a tasteful, art deco style.
Unique and untraditional elopements in Scotland
Choosing to elope gives you the power to craft your wedding day precisely to your needs. Which is why I’m a big fan of couples who go for something unique and non-traditional. You don’t have to wear a white wedding gown if you don’t want to. You don’t have to invite anyone if you don’t want to – you can keep it private!
