As Scotland proposal photographer I love it when couples choose me to be a part of special moments in their lives. Secret proposals are unforgettable. And Dan proposing to Jess as a surprise was wonderful to witness!
Dan got in touch with me back in March this year as he was looking for Edinburgh proposal photographer to capture the moment. We had a completely different plan for his secret proposal back then! Unfortunately lockdown completely ruined our initial plans. Thankfully after the lockdown restrictions eased, we were able to get back to planning again.
Initially, he was going to tell her that they were having a photo shoot in Edinburgh, simply as a her birthday treat. The reason for that was to get even more photos for the walls in their new house. And then, once we found a pretty, intimate and natural place he would get her to step forward. And when I’m to pretend to be getting a photo of Jess looking back at Dan. And in the meantime he would get down on one knee so when she turns, she will see the ring!
Most of the initial plan worked really well, although in the meantime we decided to go for a different location. Our initial idea was a secret proposal on top of Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh, but then we decided to organise everything on the Scottish East coast, 1 hour drive from the Scottish capital.
And wow, what a great idea it turned out to be!
St Abbs is one of my favourite places in Scotland. So romantic: the lighthouse, the sea and beautiful green cliffs of Scotland.
The light was absolute perfection, as an Edinburgh engagement photographer I couldn’t have asked for more.
The team working on documenting unforgettable moments for Dan and Jess was also amazing!
John, very talented musician based in Edinburgh, was playing guitar during the proposal. You can find out more about him under this this link.
Honestly, how romantic is that? Dan planned every detail of the secret proposal to perfection. Location, perfect light and incredible music all created amazing and romantic atmosphere.
The story of how they met is super modern-romantic as well.
Did I also mention that we managed to witness one of the most epic Scottish sunsets?
It was really breathtaking. The sky suddenly became orange and red, so we quickly run up the hill to be able to take some backlit photographs as well.
I really couldn’t believe my luck that evening. As you can probably imagine, sunsets in Scotland are incredibly rare as the sun is usually covered by clouds on most days!
