Small autumn wedding at Carlowrie Castle in Edinburgh

Carlowrie Castle is an incredible setting for a small wedding in Edinburgh. So if you’re looking for a historic venue on the outskirts of the Scottish capital, look no further. Carlowrie Castle in Kirkliston is the right choice!

Thus, when Julie and Alex contacted me and asked me to photograph their small wedding at Carlowrie Castle, I was overjoyed. As Scotland wedding photographer I was super excited to capture their day at one of the most beautiful of Edinburgh venues.

Carlowrie Castle wedding photos

Carlowrie Castle is a venue which boasts incredible scenery. Highland cows, gorgeous historic building, beautiful and green castle ground and gardens. Truly, the most gorgeous setting for your wedding photos in Scotland!

Interior design of Carlowrie Castle is very contemporary and modern, which is a great contrast to the outdoor areas. And although the venue is able to accommodate really big weddings, they also host smaller celebrations. Therefore considering Carlowrie Castle for your small wedding in Scotland is a way to go!

Personally, I believe that the most charming time for weddings and elopements at Carlowrie Castle is autumn, October in particular. With golden leaves falling from trees and ivy on the castle walls turning dark green and red, it’s a magical time to tie the knot in Scotland.

On the other hand, I can imagine why most people choose to marry in the summer. The gardens on castle grounds always allow guests to enjoy themselves with a cocktail in the sun. Additionally, days are warmer and longer!

But enough about this stunning venue! What can I say about Julie and Alex’s celebration?

First of all, it was packed with emotions, joy and playfulness. I loved when the newlyweds agreed to say hi to the highland cows around the castle, and we lured them into photos with Julie’s wedding bouquets which our furry friends became incredibly curious about. Secondly, the atmosphere was so relaxed, and allowed me to steal Julie and Alex from their guests for around half an hour of wedding photos, just before we had to head back to the castle for the speeches. Finally, I believe their photos speak for themselves. I hope you notice all the happiness, emotions and that you’ll get inspired by their day when planning a celebration of your own!
