Naomi and Gilad’s elopement in Edinburgh was anything but ordinary. Together for 11 years to the day on their wedding, the couple first met as teenagers and built a life full of shared adventures, hobbies, and a deep connection. Their unique sense of style and personality shone through in every aspect of their day, from the checked tweed suit worn by Gilad to Naomi’s stunning emerald Vampire’s Wife Falconetti dress, a bold and glamorous departure from the traditional white gown.
Their love of fashion and design, combined with their easygoing nature and shared sense of humor, made their wedding a perfect reflection of who they are as a couple. Choosing Edinburgh for their wedding, a city they’d fallen in love with on one of their first trips together, was a decision that felt very right for their celebration.
Why choose The Scotsman Hotel for your wedding stay?
The Scotsman Hotel, a historic landmark located in Edinburgh’s Old Town, served as the perfect base for Naomi and Gilad’s elopement. Because of its stylish interiors, as wedding photographer I always recommend it to my clients. See the rooms available to book at the Scotsman Hotel here.
Here are some reasons why this boutique hotel is an excellent choice for couples planning their elopement or wedding in Edinburgh.
Central Location in the Heart of Edinburgh
Situated within walking distance of some of the city’s most iconic wedding venues, The Scotsman offers unparalleled convenience.
Whether you’re exchanging vows at Riddle’s Court, celebrating at the Collective Gallery at Calton Hill Observatory, or enjoying a reception at the Michelin-starred Timberyard restaurant, everything is just a short stroll away. The City Chambers, where Naomi and Gilad held their ceremony, is also minutes’ walk from the hotel.
A Stylish Space with Unique Photo Opportunities at the Picturehouse Cinema
The Scotsman is not just a place to stay; it’s a venue that enhances your wedding aesthetic.
Couples staying at the hotel gain access to its Picturehouse Cinema, an intimate art-deco theatre perfect for creating creative and cinematic wedding photos. Naomi and Gilad took full advantage of this space, where we captured symmetrical, Wes Anderson-inspired images that reflected their playful and stylish personalities.
It really provides a luxury cinema experience – with its 48 plush leather armchairs, each accompanied by its own table and classic empire lamp. What’s more, every seat is equipped with power and USB points – so it’s not only incredibly stylish but also very convenient and functional!

Iconic Stained Glass Staircase for the First Look
The hotel’s stained glass staircase, brimming with historic character, is an ideal spot for your “first look” – that special moment when you and your partner see each other for the first time on your wedding day. Naomi and Gilad’s didn’t opt for the first look as they were getting ready together – but if you choose to do the reveal, it’s a gorgeous space surrounded by warmth of coloured vintage glass.
A simple and heartfelt morning ceremony at the Edinburgh City Chambers
Naomi and Gilad chose the Alexander Suite at Edinburgh’s City Chambers for their morning wedding ceremony, a perfect choice for couples seeking a quick, stress-free option. The venue, known for its historic charm and central location, made the process seamless, allowing the couple to focus on what truly mattered to them: exploring the beauty of Edinburgh during their post-ceremony photoshoot. With its understated elegance, the Alexander Suite provided an intimate and meaningful setting for their vows, setting the tone for a day filled with love and adventure.
Photoshoot in autumnal beauty in Edinburgh
After their ceremony, Naomi and Gilad and I explored Edinburgh’s streets and landmarks for a photoshoot that truly captured the city’s magic.
As a wedding photographer in Edinburgh, I loved visiting the Edinburgh Portrait Gallery with the bride and groom for the first time, where the couple embraced the artistic and cultural essence of this beautiful, art-filles historic building. Again, located very conveniently – just 10-minute walk from the Old Town.
Afterwards, our photography journey continued through the cobbled streets of the Royal Mile, which were sprinkled with stunning autumn foliage. The golden and crimson leaves added a romantic and seasonal touch to their photos, perfectly complementing the charm of Edinburgh’s Old Town.
A romantic candle-lit lunch at The Witchery
Their wedding day ended with an intimate and candle-lit lunch at The Witchery, one of Edinburgh’s most romantic dining spots. Known for its gothic elegance and indulgent menu, The Witchery provided the perfect backdrop for Naomi and Gilad’s post-elopement celebration.
It’s best to book your table well in advance to secure a spot in the Original Dining Room, a space brimming with character, luxurious wood panelling, and soft candlelight. While The Witchery’s Secret Garden Room is charming in its own right, most would agree that the Original Dining Room boasts cosy and unparalleled atmosphere. To book a table and view the menus, see Dine at the Witchery.
Surrounded by flickering candles and sumptuous décor, Naomi and Gilad toasted to their new chapter and I took last few photos for their final wedding gallery.
