Summer Three Sisters Elopement in Scotland

Shawn and David decided to say their I dos at a viewpoint overlooking the Three Sisters in the highlands of Scotland.

The allure of highlands during summer season is undeniable. The days are long, the weather is usually relatively mild, and the landscapes are at their most vibrant. As the hills turn green, wildflowers continue to carpet the glens and lochs sparkle from often intense sunlight.

During this memorable summer outdoor elopement in Scotland, Shawn and David embraced the ever-changing Scottish weather when exchanging personal vows surrounded the lush greenery and celebrated with an epic champagne pop (and then a toast!).

Benefits of Summer Elopements in Scotland

Summer in Scotland is a magical season, and it’s no wonder that it’s a popular time for elopements. Here are several reasons why summer is a great time to elope in Scotland.

Firstly, the longer daylight hours provide lots time for photos amidst the breathtaking landscapes. In the summer months, particularly around the summer solstice, Glencoe area in Scotland experiences longest daylight hours of the year with sunset time around 9:30pm – 10:30pm. Which is a great if you don’t mind staying up till then, chasing the fleeting golden hour, count me in! As Scotland elopement photographer I really enjoy photographing these intimate outdoor ceremonies, especially when I get lucky enough to witness the soft golden light before dawn.

Secondly, the Scottish weather, despite its very capricious nature, often graces couples with sunny spells and moderate conditions. So if your dream is a mesmerising sunset ending your elopement day, in the summer you have the highest chance of it actually happening!

Although please note – you still need to be prepared for wind and rain, as the forecast is often not to be trusted.

Moreover, summer is the best time for al fresco dining. Regardless of where you’re planning your celebratory wedding dinner, you can enjoy outdoor dining, taking advantage of availability of Scotland’s fresh summer produce. And you can enjoy the stunning views as you celebrate! Imagine being served a mouth-watering meal by your private chef or catering team on a gorgeous summer day, enjoying the last rays of sunshine about to hide behind the horizon.

Finally, last great thing about choosing summer for your elopement is easier road conditions and travel in general. The milder weather and longer days will make it easier for you and your potential guests to travel to less accessible locations, and if you choose a remote ceremony locations you won’t have to drive in the dark on these tricky single-track highland roads.
