As Edinburgh engagement photographer I need to admit – engagement shoots taking place on moody, slightly rainy afternoons are my favourite.

My photographer friends often laugh that I hate sunshine (which is so not true!), but I do tend to avoid direct sunlight in photos I take. Unless it’s an epic sunset or a foggy sunrise, in these cases there is nothing more beautiful than that.

Clouds make up for much more interesting atmosphere. Especially in Scotland when sunshine is quite a rare occurrence.

To sum up, that November Sunday afternoon was simply perfect for their Edinburgh engagement shoot.

I met Sarah and Ian on the most charming of Edinburgh’s streets – Circus Lane.

That’s where our Scotland engagement shoot started. The weather was difficult to predict – as usual in Scotland. But they both decided they loved the autumn vibe of Scotland and wouldn’t want to miss out on the colourful leaves in the background of the photos.

Sarah and Ian are two Americans living in Scotland.

They met in the States, have been together for almost 7 years and engaged for about 1 year.

It was super exciting to hear about their plans of getting married in California next June. When they contacted me they mentioned they would love to do an engagement shoot in Scotland.

They’ve been living in Dundee for more a year and wanted to have their love captured during their unique time here. Although they were considering having their engagement photos taken in the Scottish highlands, they decided to go for the charming city of Edinburgh.

They turned out to be the cutest and most stylish models ever! As you are surely able to see in the photos.

I was also so glad they were such troopers, able to survive insane wind and quite a lot of rain at one point during our shoot. Incredible!
