I was so glad when Gabi found me on Instagram and booked a couple photoshoot with her boyfriend in Edinburgh, it was amazing to work with two people so in love with each other and so in love with my city. They both live in Wroclaw, Poland which is one of the loveliest Polish cities and also – a city where I photographed my friends’ wedding last September.
Couple photoshoot in Edinburgh – couples photographer Edinburgh Scotland
It was a little bit foggy and moody, so my favourite kind of weather. The light was nice and soft and my couple was so gorgeous, I couldn’t ask for anything more.
We clicked immediately, Gabi and Tomek were incredibly talkative and so easy to talk to, it was such an incredible pleasure to spend an entire morning and a part of the afternoon with them wandering around Edinburgh. I’ve probabaly mentioned it a hundred time already but I really do get the best clients and it’s so awesome and rewarding.
What is more, they didn’t complain too much about me asking them to start our shoot with a coffee at 9:00am although they had been partying the night before. Best clients!
The love story – couples photography Scotland
For 24-year-olds we’ve known each other for a long time, 10 years. We were both born in Wroclaw, Poland and we met in junior high school. To be honest we didn’t like each other for some time… until one of my friends showed me a boy she fancied. And that’s when I looked at him in a different way for the first time. Tomek was in the classroom, holding a book in his hands. It wasn’t love at first sight though. We were friends for some time, went to the same classes, we went for walks, to parties. We sort of completed each other – I would buy a sweet poppy seed bun and I would eat the icing and he would eat the poppy seeds.
After 6 months of friendship and relationship we decided to break up, deciding that friendship only is the right solution. But this friendship started 4 years ago and continues to this day. We did appreciate each other so much, stayed in the most difficult moments and decided to be together.
Thomas J Walls café engagement photos in Edinburgh
We started our shoot at Thomas J Walls café which is a large coffee shop located in Newington in Edinburgh, right next to the National Museum of Scotland.
The place is dark and full of plants and their coffee is strong and delicious.
The café used to be an optician’s shop as suggested by the logo which café owners decided to preserve. I think it was a great idea, as it gives the place character and uniqueness. Although we decided to have our shoot outside (in the cold), the internal space is just as cool. Simple, spacious and elegant.
National Museum of Scotland couple photos
We started the second part of our shoot on the terrace of the National Museum of Scotland which offers incredible views at the city centre, including Edinburgh Castle. Because it was still very early for a Saturday, we were the only people there. Lucky us! My lovely clients really enjoyed the views.
Why a photoshoot in Edinburgh, Scotland when we are actually from Poland?
After being together for one year we decided to go abroad for work with our friend Julia. Tomek stayed in Glasgow and us two were working in Edinburgh, but he joined us after a while. We lived together in Edinburgh until the end of the summer.
We fell in love with Edinburgh, with its beautiful architecture, for giving us a chance to experience a life abroad, learn the language and the history of Scotland.
Again, we spend some amazing time here and we try to come back here as often as possible.
Thanks to Natalia’s photographs we fell in love with Edinburgh’s charm even more. It was an amazing day and we are already planning to frame and hang the photos on the walls. Maybe in a flat in Portobello?
Just after going for a little walk in the Holyrood Park, At the end of our photoshoot I took Gabi and Tomek to the Dean Village area for the last few photographs and our photoshoot ended with some moody shots at Dean Bridge.
If you’re looking for an Edinburgh photographer who can also be your city tour guide, I’d love to work with you.
