Ellis and Jena’s Pentland Hills elopement was something all of us were super excited about. I was over the moon when I first received a message from Jena and she told me about their plans.
And then I became even happier when after we had a Skype call and they chose me to be their elopement photographer.
Jena is a wedding and elopement photographer based in Maine, US which felt even more incredible – that she chose me to be a part of their adventure in Scotland and gave me the chance of photographing their day. I seem to connect with some people extremely easy and Jena and Ellis were exactly those type of people. I just knew that spending the whole day with them was going to be a unique experience and I wanted to make sure that they will fall in love with the photographs from their Scottish Pentland Hills elopement.
Windy Pentland Hills outdoor wedding
It was intimate, romantic and emotional. There were tears and laughs, laughing through tears, whisky, hiking around Pentland Hills and then more whisky. Plus running around Arthur’s Seat and celebrating with a bottle of prosecco.
After a very exciting but intense day we all went for dinner to Arcade Haggis and Whisky Bar and it was the best end to an exceptional day.
Seeing two people so good together and so in love with each other reminded me that love is all about finding someone who is your kind of crazy.
The love story
Jena:
Ellis and I met through mutual friends at the gym and I remember the moment we were introduced as if it were yesterday – he’s still the only man who’s ever made me do a double take. What started out as a pretty simple friendship started to develop into something magical involving midnight drives, laughing till we cried, all-night talks and star gazing on my roof. We were rocking in camp chairs at the lake one night when I looked over at him sitting quietly and I just knew that whatever the future might hold I needed it to include him.We have little concern for rules and even before we were officially engaged we had agreed that a traditional wedding would just not work for us.I had my heart set on an elopement in Scotland and Ellis just said he had his heart set on me, so it all worked out. We were able to surprise our family and closest friends with a marriage ceremony in our home which meant they were still a part of our wedding – and as thankful as were to have them present we knew that having our own time to adventure in (what I consider to be) the most magical country on Earth was essential.
