Scotland summer family photoshoot

I recently had a great pleasure of capturing family moments for this amazing family from the US. Although I don’t specialise in family photography, I enjoy shooting family portraits for every family who decides to book me as their Edinburgh family photographer.

I was over the moon when Hewan contacted me to ask about my availability for family session in Edinburgh. And that fortunately I had a free slot for a shoot in August!

Hewan travelled to Scotland with her husband Clarence, mother in law Maureen, sister in law Keisha and two most adorable little daughters, Maya and Leya. Girls were responsible for making the photoshoot much more fun than I could ever expect! We had an incredible amount of fun. The girls laughed so much, picked some thistles in Holyrood Park… and made so many super funny faces next to a great number of super cute smiles.

If you’re wondering whether I would be available as your Edinburgh family photographer, as I specialise mostly in wedding and engagement photography, the answer is ABSOLUTELY YES! I love working with families. Both small and big families, with little and bigger kids, and particularly during outdoor photo sessions in Scotland.

Holyrood was our second location for the family shoot. It was raining lightly, which gave the Scottish landscape so much amazing saturation and mood. I felt so lucky for those weather conditions!

As long as it’s not raining heavily we can always go ahead with the photoshoot.

To truly capture the magic of your family moments in Edinburgh, Scotland as a photographer I truly recommend outdoor locations. Although there is always a risk of rain.

I believe in keeping family photo shoots as informal as possible and as much for the children as possible! Family photographs, when taken, should be an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Especially if you’re not originally from Scotland and want to see less popular and more magical spots and discover hidden gems in Edinburgh – I’m your person! I’d love to be not only your family photographer, but also a tour guide. Someone who will tell you a little bit more about the Scottish capital and who will show you the best locations for family photos.

I understand the importance of having regular family photos taken. What I think is most important is capturing those beautiful, unforgettable moments and not just posed group shots (of course these are also super important and never overlooked!).

And the most important advice from Edinburgh family photographer – be yourself, have fun and be silly if you want to!
