When Jordan contacted me just 2 weeks ago saying that he wanted to make the secret proposal as perfect as possible for his girlfriend Jess, I was super excited for the big moment to happen. Also, he chose Arthur’s Seat for the location of his secret proposal which was a great choice. I absolutely hate morning hikes… but every painful second of hill climbing was so worth it! Haha.
As an Edinburgh photographer I always worry about the weather conditions here in Scotland. So I always let my clients know that the weather can be quite crazy and unpredictable. In this case we were so lucky as we got the most perfect light early in the morning during the photo hike. Plus, Jordan and Jess were absolutely amazing.
But let’s start from the beginning.
Secret engagement on Arthur’s Seat
Jordan wanted to propose outdoors, somewhere that would show the lush and green Scottish landscapes. Since him and Jess were planning to hike Arthur’s Seat during their stay in Edinburgh anyway, I thought that it would be the most perfect location for the secret engagement.
I think the best thing about the proposal and our photo session was the fact that it focused on showing their true selves – as both Jess and Jordan are outdoorsy types who love to hike and explore new places together. So the green hills felt like their natural environment.
Jess and Jordan had been dating for a little over 4 years, and the year before that they were best friends. They live in Fort Collins, Colorado but both grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. They actually attended the same high school together, but didn’t really know each other. Their passions are exploring the outdoors, eating/drinking everything under the sun, and listening to live music.
And they are the loveliest and most laid back couple ever!
